Don’t get the desktop just to save some money. Get the desktop if you want to save space and have some flexibility of setup. The iOS and MacOS versions are waiting to be reviewed by Apple. My advice would be to save up and get the keys if you want a nice poly aftertouch keyboard. Presonus Studio One doesnt export standard midi type 1 or 0, so I have to play the. ![]() In any case, by the time you factor in the cost of the controller you’re often within range of a Hydrasynth Keys anyway. I personally took piano lessons for a few years and find a traditional keyboard much easier to use than an isomorphic grid like a Launchpad or a Linnstrument. These can work really well (the Launchpad is the only one I have personal experience with, and it is really good at what it does) depending on how tied you are to a keyboard layout, how many keys you need, etc etc. If you’re willing to part from traditional keyboard action and layout, there are a number of inexpensive controllers that support poly aftertouch or MPE (HS can use either), such as the CME Xkey, the Keith McMillen K-Board-C, or the Novation Launchpad X or Pro. ![]() Well, fatar is now manufacturing a poly touch keybed that is making its way into various synth models, though generally they are more expensive than the HS.
